“One of the most distinctive singers on the UK scene” Jazzwise

Last week Emilia Mårtensson was thrilled to win Vocalist of the Year 2016 at the APPJAG Parliamentary Jazz Awards. In a glitzy reception at the Houses of Parliament, Emilia was presented the award by singer and BBC Radio presenter, Claire Martin and editor of Jazzwise magazine, Jon Newey who commented; “This has been a really strong year for the Parliamentary Jazz Awards in terms of talent and nominations. The well deserved winners are a veritable who’s who of names that have made a real impact on the music and helped make the UK one of the world’s leading jazz territories.”

‘It is a great honour to receive this award and to get recognised amongst all the amazing talent current on the UK Jazz Scene. I am proud to be part of such a wonderful community and a music scene which is constantly evolving and exploring new directions in the approach to jazz and improvising.  I am extremely lucky to have the honour of collaborating with so many wonderful musicians and artists and I am over the moon that it has led to receiving this lovely award!’-Emilia
